Pathways Northwest, a recovery programme for people with mental health needs, has hired a professional Therapeutic Counsellor to further help residents reach their full potential.
Nasim Nawaz will be working with residents across all three of Pathways Care Homes – in Accrington, Oswaldtwistle and Great Harwood – enhancing patient self-awareness and promoting psychological well-being.
Pathways Northwest believes the key component in counseling is the therapeutic relationship between client and counselor.
Nasim has been trained in a number of different approaches, enabling her to adapt her counseling to each individual resident.
She said: “I believe every client has inherent worth and each client is on a different cognitive, behavioural and physiological level of functioning.
“It is, therefore, most effective to integrate components of different psychotherapies to create a unique approach.
“My main emphasis is on the human potential for creativity, growth and psychological health and well-being rather than any felt need for pathological labels or diagnosis as a starting-point for therapeutic interventions.”
Nasim takes an integrative and humanistic approach to counseling.
She specialises in a whole range of therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centered, Transactional Analysis (TA), Psychodynamic, Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
